On Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, stakeholders, policymakers, innovators, and youth changemakers converged at the Epitome Hotel Event Centre, Kaduna, for a groundbreaking Africa Policy Dialogue (APD) Zonal Workshop on Green Jobs and Low Carbon Transition themed “Catalyzing Green Jobs Through Low Carbon Transition in Nigeria.”
Hosted by the House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy, in collaboration with INCLUDE Knowledge Platform, Advocacy for Policy and Innovation (API), and Ultimate Expert Ventures, the workshop served as a vibrant platform for dialogue and action towards advancing Nigeria’s transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy.
Driving Inclusive Climate Solutions
The event brought together representatives from key government agencies and ministries — including the Kaduna State Agriculture Development Agency, Deaf Association Kaduna State, Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities, and the Ministries of Education, Environment, Women Affairs and Social Development, Agriculture, and Youth Development, alongside NGOs, employers, job seekers, and other green-focused organizations.
The Project Coordinator, Mr. Aniebet Obot, opened the session with a warm welcome remark, followed by goodwill messages from ministry representatives, setting an inspiring tone for a day focused on collaboration, inclusion, and innovation.
Climate-Smart Strategies for Nigeria’s Future
A keynote address by Hon. Afam Victor Oghene, Chairman of the House Committee on Renewable Energy, underscored the urgency of aligning Nigeria’s development agenda with climate-smart strategies that create employment while preserving the planet.
This was followed by the presentation of three policy briefs by Mrs. Abra Dangnan:
- Unlocking Nigeria’s Green Remote Work Potential
- Unlocking Subnational Potential for Green Jobs: A Policy Brief
- Measuring What Matters: Building a Green Jobs Baseline Framework for Nigeria
These briefs outlined practical pathways for fostering green employment, driving renewable energy investments, and strengthening policy coherence at both national and subnational levels.
