A Partnership for a Sustainable Future: WISE and WEA’s Journey Together

In 2015, the Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE) and the Women Earth Alliance (WEA) embarked on a journey together, united by a shared vision of empowering women to create a more sustainable environment. Over the years, their partnership has grown stronger, with a series of projects that have made a tangible impact on the lives of women and the environment.

WISE Women’s Clean Cookstove Training and Entrepreneurship Project (2015-2017)

Their first collaboration, the WISE Women’s Clean Cookstove Training and Entrepreneurship Project, aimed to reduce indoor air pollution and promote sustainable energy practices among women in rural communities. With WEA’s support, WISE trained over 500 women in clean cookstove production and entrepreneurship, providing them with a sustainable source of income and improving their overall health and well-being.

Emergency Food Relief for COVID-19 and Climate Resilience (2019-2020)

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, WISE and WEA joined forces once again to provide emergency food relief to vulnerable communities. Their project focused on promoting climate resilience and food security, distributing over 10,000 food packages to families in need. This initiative not only helped alleviate the immediate effects of the pandemic but also supported long-term climate resilience efforts.

Tree Growing Enterprise for Food Security and Climate Change Mitigation (2021-2022)

In 2021, WISE and WEA launched the Tree Growing Enterprise for Food Security and Climate Change Mitigation project. This initiative empowered women to establish tree-growing businesses, promoting sustainable agriculture practices and mitigating the effects of climate change. Over 2,000 women were trained and supported, resulting in the planting of over 100,000 trees and a significant increase in food security.

WISE Nigeria Covid and Climate Resilience Program (2022-2024)

Their latest collaboration, the WISE Nigeria Covid and Climate Resilience Program, aims to support women-led initiatives in Nigeria, promoting climate resilience and COVID-19 recovery efforts. This program has already reached over 5,000 women, providing them with training, resources, and support to establish sustainable businesses and adapt to the challenges of climate change.

A Lasting Impact

Through their partnership, WISE and WEA have made a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of women and the environment. Their collaborative efforts have promoted sustainable development, climate resilience, and women’s empowerment, serving as a model for effective partnerships in the pursuit of a more sustainable future.
